Cavtat

A little way south of Dubrovnik lies a park on a bay with a lovely view of the city. About 14 kilometers further on, located on a green peninsula, is the seaside resort of Cavtat. Cavtat is ancient Epidauros, from which a busy center of trade developed with not one but two natural bays to serve as harbors. In the town's center are two patrician palaces that are worth seeing. In the so-called Rector's Palace - Knezev door - which dates from the 16th century, a museum has been installed. Besides displays of archeological finds, there is also a library containing drawings by Lucas Cranach and Italian masters, among others.
